Field notes / Guide 02

Measure a DXF drawing on iPhone.

Start with LinePocket’s Floor Plan or Shapes sample to learn the controls. Measurement tools require an explicitly activated free seven-day trial or Pro access, including on the samples.

  1. Open an ASCII DXF. Check the import warning, visible geometry, and drawing-unit readout. Confirm unitless files with the drawing’s author.
  2. Choose Measure → Distance and place two points. Snapping helps select supported geometry.
  3. For a route or boundary length, choose Path and place each successive point.
  4. Choose Area and place at least three points around a polygon. Read its area and perimeter.
  5. Use Undo to remove the last point or Clear to start again. Use two fingers to pan and zoom while measuring, then Done to navigate.

Measure your own drawing

Drawings can be inspected free. Choosing a measurement tool presents the trial or Pro offer when neither is active. The seven-day trial starts only after explicit activation, ends without charging, and does not restart when restored. LinePocket Pro is a planned $19.99 one-time purchase in the US, with localized pricing through Apple.

Compare known dimensions with a trusted reference drawing before using results for a site decision. Measurement depends on source geometry, units, snapping, and drawing compatibility.
